Phoenix cinema

Phoenix cinema is an independent arts centre and cinema for the local community in Leicestershire and beyond. As a charity they provide an engaging and interactive program of events, festivals, screenings and exhibitions. They screen everything from blockbusters to indie films and offer a varied programme of events and workshops for all ages.

a dozen eggs have developed several sub-brands for the centre’s upcoming events and initiatives. Projects are diverse – often targeting different audiences with specific requirements. The Cinema Den, for example, was a film club for 12 – 15 year old. The initiative was run in partnership with Leicestershire Council and police to encourage kids off the streets. The program was free but still needed of a striking design identity to appeal to a tricky audience. We used children’s feedback gathered by Phoenix cinema in order to develop a neon-bright design for flyers and social media.

In contrast Films to Make you Feel Good required print works to promote a film club for isolated people. We developed a bright, colourful identity. Text was bold, easy to read and simple to follow and the overall feel was one of approachability.

Community Cinema Toolkit

Most recently we’ve designed a guide to assist people in setting up their own successful community cinemas. As well as everyday practicalities such as funding and promotion, Phoenix cinema ’s focus on accessibility aims to encourage a diverse group members from across the community to enjoy films together.

The guide provides information, tips and support. The bright, illustrative style aims to encourage the user to engage with the toolkit and use the checklist.
